Slate Roofing

Get In Touch

Slate roofing has been used for centuries, combining natural beauty with exceptional durability and performance. Its strength makes it ideal for pitched roofs, while the variety of colours, textures and finishes available means it can complement everything from historic buildings to modern developments.

Our skilled tradesmen combine traditional slating techniques with modern roofing expertise, carrying out everything from individual repairs to complete roof replacements. We work across heritage sites, listed buildings, commercial properties and new build projects, with experience sourcing natural slate from leading quarries, including Westmorland, Burlington and Penrhyn, as well as reclaimed slate and modern alternatives.

Why choose slate for your roofing project?

Slate offers exceptional longevity and a distinctive appearance, making it a great choice for both traditional and contemporary roofing projects.

  • Long-lasting: When correctly installed and maintained, a natural slate roof can provide exceptional service for generations.
  • Timeless appearance: Natural variations in colour and texture give slate its distinctive character and complement a wide range of architectural styles.
  • Fire-resistant: Natural slate is non-combustible, providing an additional level of protection.
  • Sustainable: Slate is a natural material with a long lifespan, helping reduce the need for frequent replacement.
  • Recyclable: Slate can often be recovered and reused at the end of its service life.
  • Reclaimed options: Where appropriate, reclaimed slate can help retain the character of historic buildings while reducing the demand for new materials.

Traditional roof slating and craftsmanship

The performance of a slate roof depends on the quality of its installation. Our experienced teams combine traditional skills with modern roofing practices, with work carried out in accordance with BS 5534:2014+A2:2018.

Where possible, we carefully retain and reuse original slate, sourcing sympathetic replacements when required. This attention to materials and detail is particularly important on heritage and architecturally significant buildings.

Heritage and listed building slate roofing

Heritage roofing requires experience and careful judgement. We understand how to balance current roofing standards with traditional materials, conservation requirements and the character of the original building.

Our heritage projects include Walton Hall, Darwen Town Hall and King’s House, restoring and replacing slate roofs while working sensitively around these important buildings.

Commercial slate roofing

We also install, repair and maintain slate roofs for commercial properties and new residential developments. Combining skilled workmanship with the resources to deliver larger projects, we provide durable roofing solutions designed to protect buildings for the long term.
